DNA Fragmentation Test

The DNA Fragmentation Test is an advanced male fertility assessment that measures the level of DNA damage within sperm cells. While standard semen analysis evaluates sperm count, motility, and morphology, DNA fragmentation testing provides additional insight into sperm quality at the genetic level.

Elevated sperm DNA fragmentation has been associated with reduced fertility potential, recurrent miscarriage, poor embryo development, failed implantation, and lower success rates in assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF and ICSI. The test can be particularly useful for couples experiencing unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced paternal age, varicocele, lifestyle-related fertility concerns, or repeated ART failures.

Results are reported as a DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI), indicating the proportion of sperm carrying fragmented DNA. The findings can assist healthcare providers in fertility evaluation, treatment planning, and monitoring the impact of medical or lifestyle interventions aimed at improving reproductive outcomes.
