Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a molecular cytogenetic technique that allows the localization of a specific DNA sequence or an entire chromosome in a cell. FISH can be used to diagnose genetic diseases, map genes, and identify chromosomal abnormalities. It can also be used to compare the arrangement of genes on chromosomes of different species.
